Reflections on God, Culture, and Scripture

God is the best teacher in the cosmos. Thus, in his tireless efforts to teach us, he meets humanity where we are. We are embedded in our respective cultures-cultures of our own making. God takes a high view of cultures and will use them whenever and wherever possible. God has a high view of the human person as well. The incarnation of Jesus certainly illustrates these viewpoints as does the existence of Scripture. Scripture is a co-production between heaven and earth. God relies on the creativity and imagination of humans to convey in human categories and culture that which in any given time can best be understood.
